Aspergers Awareness Campaign in Worcestershire

I am trying to raise awareness of Asperger Syndrome (AS) in Worcestershire. The aim is to make as many people as possible aware of AS, including contacting shops, pubs, clubs, schools etc making people aware of the condition, informing people about how to talk to someone with AS and understand how to deal with it.

I have the backing of a local newspaper who will help with publicising the campaign. Watch out for items and events.

Also with the sort of response I have been getting from the Internet from partners and parents who are related to people with AS they feel that there is nothing available in Worcestershire for help or guidance as to where or what to do next.

My life was turned around when i was diagnosed with AS last year and says it was the hardest time of his life. He was having difficulties in managing life and had been sent to secure units and transferred around the country, constantly being told that he did not have AS. My parents had to arrange a private consultation which led to diagnosis and life changed for the better:

‘I was released from hospital and I felt great knowing that all my issues that I have had in life were all down to AS’.

From my personal experiences, i would like to help others understand people with AS and i feel there are many others who need help. I have set up a monthly meeting in Worcestershire as he would like others to learn to ‘understand from an insiders point of view and not an outsider’

To begin with the group there is an informal get together and would like to invite anyone to attend who has an interest in AS, including those with AS, but also those who would like to hear more about the condition.
